With the software optimized, the same benefit would exist without having to disable any cores.

I'm not surprised by this one bit. Resource sharing appears to be some of the issue.

Lockdown cluster B in each "module" and lightly threaded application performance improves pretty significantly.

Where AMD botched this whole thing is by not addressing this issue @ the software level. Something along the lines of "dual core optimizer" will make a big difference.

No idea about the crazy power draw @ load while OC'ed though.

Anyhow it isnt like i invested in an AM3+ setup recently, so makes no difference to me other than competition = good for the consumer.
