So whos not upgrading to BD? - Page 3

For me it looks like my AMD days are limited, reading most of the reviews of their new CPUs they just do not keep up with Intel.

Their marketing has been over stating performance for a while now, and not a 8 core CPU as I was lead to believe. Four cores with two threads per core...

Not sure it would be a major upgrade from what I already have (sig below). I was hoping to drop one into my MB and goe from 6 cores to 8 cores.

So I think unless AMD come up with something special my next upgrade will be onto Intel, as it would require me to replace my MB in both cases.

I would just waited it out. See how the piledriver does, but even that it looks like you sig rig is pretty nice! Are you happy with it?

Its not really possible to upgrade to BD unless you're going from a Phenom 1 or Athlon64 or something like that.

I'm happy with my machine, it performs very well. Had considered new faster RAM but it's a solid runner.

I was hoping BD would be a true 8 core CPU adding two more cores over the existing CPU range!

But it's not! Feel cheated by AMD now, they talked so long about a 8 core CPU and they did not deliver. So my next major upgrade (next year) will be Intel.

X2
once the benches and architectural details came out
I upgraded from a Ph I X4 9950 to a Ph II X4 980 instead of going to fakedozer

it will be two-three years before I upgrade again, hopefully a true 8 core AMD will be out...if not...dare I say Intel
