Whether it was genuine or not, he was definitely reading off of something. I mean, if I take a basic speech class and have to tell a 2-minute speech on something, I normally memorize it, or know it enough not to need notes. Just saying.
He's a CEO. CEO's are by and far some of the most socially awkward, unintelligent yes-men on the planet. Sure, there are exceptions. If you were to take a look at the CEO for Staples, or Wal-Mart, or now, Blackberry, they are not social types. They suck at talking and most of them have zero compassion or sympathy for their fellow man. I guarantee he didn't write his little apology by himself, if at all.
This guy is one of them. Look at his beady little eyes. His triple chin. He wreaks of weakness and his total submission to a board of directors. Don't trust him. He's just as likely to run over your dog and say that the dog was impeding his corporate goals as he is of not truly caring about the issue.
