i5 2500k OC on ASRock P67 Pro3 VID-Question

sup everyone,

after I finally managed to install all the new components in my rig, I installed windows etc and started overclocking.

as of now, I manually set my vcore on the p67 board to 1,27v and the multiplier to 45x. the rest of the bunch is set to auto. I've had a bsod with 1,25v vcore which should be stock (?). After raising +0,02v its now running stable.

But I've got a few questions about reading the values in windows and regarding the mobo.

1.) the ASRock UEFI doesnt provide any default values (P2.00 ver.), so if I would want to change PLL or sth, there is no value which it's set to before changing. standard setting is always auto, but shouldn't there be any number to what its currently set/at when in bios?
2.) I included 2 pics from load and idle, where CPUZ always shows 1,256v, whereas coretemp changes the values depending on load and idle, but either way, they are much higher than CPUZ. which of em is now the more correct value? core temp changes between 1,2760V (rare) to 1,3511V to 1,3961V on idle. I do know that VCore and VID are not the same, but since that changes, I think they are somewhat connected.
3.) are there any settings which I should change in UEFI @ multiplier x45, since I have everything else on auto.

I've read a lot about LLC, which provides, when set right, lesser voltage spikes and drops. do I have to take this into account too, when being @ 4,5GHz? I didnt really get the point of it, even after reading some of the guides where keywords are explained.

regards
stevie

while at stock leave evrything on auto(even vcore)and put your multi at 45 and you should be fine
some people choose to go further, if so...

here look at my settings:
http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/1139353-cant-get-oc-all-1-47-a-6.html#post15281256

llc is needed to stabilize vcore underload aka getting rid of vdroop. around 4/5 seems to be good for most people. your cpuz prolly needs to be updated(had same issue and update fixed it) when you are at idle your vcore will be the same as bios(without llc enabled) when you put your computer underload your vcore will drop by approximately .5v when selecting llc you want to find the one that allows your vcore to be closest to the bios settings while under load.

The PLL stock is around 1.8-1.832. It can be helpful to lower it to 1.7 to increase stability and lower temps. If you ask what a default value is I can probably tell you what it is.

The CPU-Z will be more accurate, and Vcore and VID are different things. The VID changing and being higher will be due to vdroop. The vcore will show the what is actually being supplied to your chip.

For CPU-Z the latest is 1.58, so you're good there, and unless you have a 32 bit OS then use the 64 bit version.

LLC you want to use to eliminate as much vdroop as possible without causing spikes. For your board this will most likely be setting 2/3.

Test for stability with prime95 1344/1792 FFTs, if you need help on doing this than ask. Run them each for 15 minutes, and if they both pass try a 12+ hr run of P95 with 90% RAM for complete stability.

read your own text. you spoke of what? CPUZ, right.

thanks for the information iBlendYourFace. bad for me that my mobo doesnt show the actual values, but the extreme versions do, thats at least what I saw in several screenshots :/ I hope that ASRock is about to fix this. Any others with that issue?

I try to set it LLC and PLL accordingly, and will move on to a higher multiplier.

I still dont get any current and/or default values from the uefi. I find it hard to set the voltages accordingly if you dont know to which value they're set at the point of being inside the uefi...

does any1 have the same issue with the pro3 board?

I've got a 2.00B version bios here, but I dunno if it is a good idea to update the newest from asrock, since that B-version is not listed on the download page.

E: LLC disappears when cpu ratio (multiplier) is set to manual. LLC is only available when auto mode, currently on level 5.
