1st Rig

So after toiling for nearly a year on research for parts, I've finally perfected my build (I think). I was going to go with the 1090T before September, then I decided to see what BD held in the bench tests (boy am I glad I abandoned my AMD plan). Now, after seeing what BD didn't do, I got some advice, and turned to the 2500k. Here is my plan for my first rig (open for constructive criticism of course):

Intel i5 2500k-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

Noctua NH-D14-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018

Corsair ES 750W V2-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021

G-Skill (2x4GB)-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314

ASUS DCII 570-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121432

Samsung Spinpoint F3-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

i dont know if you can get better GPU , and if you are not going to oc the CPU much then no need for the Noctua , a CM 212+ will do the job

Agreed, get a 50mm fan for that mobo though. tongue.gif It will ensure that it will be cooling correctly. Otherwise that armor works against itself wink.gif

Always room for SLI later if he needs it tongue.gif

Mobo supports it and PSU is more than enough

get a case fan for the mobo is what youre saying? and also, concerning what you said about SLI, are you saying that ill still have room for it if i want to with the noctua in there?

Whats the advantage of a P67 chipset over a Z68 ?

There is none. Z68 has onboard video, and SSD caching, which isn't really that useful.

I was saying that your mobo supports SLI. tongue.gif

Case fan, yes, Asus calls it an "assist fan" or something like that. I think it is a 50mm but you might want to double check. the sabertooth with thermal armor supports a fan to be mounted on the mobo(its like right in the middle). The armor was made for this, it will allow air to cool the core components.

yes and no. Z68 + Lucid Virtu allows you to take advantage of Intel's Quick Sync technology for video encoding while keeping your dedicated graphics card. It's great stuff for people who do gaming AND video encoding. I you don't do encoding then, yeah, you're better off with a P67.
