What CPU should I get? BD, Thuban- other - Page 4

Intel Pentium G620 beats the 8150 in one core performance on cinebench. And that's bad considering I forgot the G620 even existed.

There's some good comparisons in productivity application and others in that Anandtech review : http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083

Sorry can't post graphs I'm at work

Looking at the below information I think I will stick with an Intel offering. Just not sure yet if the 2600K is worth the extra bones and if there will be a clear improvement over the 2500K. Again, combination of work and gaming for her build (modern games).

Keep in mind that Cinebench is heavily multithreaded. I'd look at more than just that for an accurate comparison of gaming and graphic design application.

Though I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with a new intel chip.

Considering the performance it is very well priced. Both 2500k and 2600k.

Haha..... It would be even better if she had higher skill, but I am lucky just to have a girl who likes to play video games and is pretty to boot. We co-oped through Gears 3 recently. At the moment she is in China so I am trying to finish her build as a welcome home present. Ironically, we are moving 9 days after she gets home.

Agreed.

Oh you and your wife are Starcraft 2 players? That makes this very easy. Starcraft 2 is very intel friendly.

As you can see, Bulldozer is completely garbage

Got the 2600k. Along with the ASRock Extreme 4 Gen 3 Mobo.
