Once you have all your hardware figured out pick up any valid copy of Win7 and you will have WMC7 which is very capable once modded. Go to http://www.hack7mc.com/ and download media browser, and movie library. These two used together make browsing your movie collection a much better experience. Movie library will automatically download dvd cover art and the synopsis for the film.

Will those TV tuner cards allow me to record live tv and set up future recordings?

Also, do you plan on using a receiver or just having it to go straight to the tv?
I plan on using a full 5.1 home theater setup such as a Pioneer 521K receiver and such

Ok, if you have to buy a mobo, just get one that has the optical output. That way you wont have to buy a soundcard and can enjoy the HD/DTS sound thru your reciever.

That GT 210 is fine, do you already have that or is it something that you have to buy?

Cant recommend a tv tuner, but im pretty sure there are others that can point you in the right direction.

Anyone have recommendations on a good tv tuner card?

That really depends on what your price range for a tuner card is are you looking under $50 or around $100

also what type of interfaces will be available pci-e x1 or pci? or do you want a usb tuner?

Ill be getting an ati HD 650 here pretty soon for my htpc ive heard they do pretty well. also theres the hauppauge 1250 and 2250s that seem to be favorites around here

Price isn't really an issue and it can be PCI-E 1x PCI or USB

I just want to achieve my goal

well this card has glowing reviews online although its a bit pricy and seems to be the recommended card of choice here on OCN

or same card but with the full media center kit for $20 more
