Question about overclocking 2500K

Thread Starter
Would you suggest following this guide? I've only overclocked once, and I ran a stress test every 100MHz. This guide just tells me to crank it up to 4.5GHz from the get go. Is it safe?

I'm going to use a Scythe Mugen 2.

I hit 4.5 GHz right away with no problems. That is a good starting point. I'm at 4.5 GHz at 1.275 volts.

Well, they're most likely telling you to crank it up to 4.5 so you can turn up the core voltage until it stops BSODing. Honestly, in most cases I've found that people can get stable 4.5 as early as 1.26 / 1.27v.

Alright, thanks guys. I'll just set it to 1.26 / 1.27v as well. By the way will a Seasonic 620W be able to carry it? I'm going to have a 570 GTX running alongside it.

I usually stress test with prime 95 for 24 hours on the blend setting and see if it's stable. If not bump up the vcore until it is. But, 1.26 or 1.27 is a good place to start.

Good luck with OC. I found OCing SB pretty fun, and a nice change of pace.
