How to keep dust from getting on sensor for the first time

Hello all

I will be going out later tonight and purchasing my first DSLR. I played with the Canon T3 and loved it. I am taking a photography class at my school and really am starting to get into this hobby.

I was wondering since the lens comes off the body, I will have to put it on myself. I know that, and to have a less likely occurrence of dust getting in I should put the sensor down toward the ground so dust won't land.

My problem is, will I be okay with this method? My house gets quite dusty and I am really concerned about this. Thanks!

Just put a paper towel over it. Or you can do your method.

Yes, have the camera off and body facing down when you're changing lenses. But know that dust getting on the sensor is imminent. Get a rocket blower to clean your sensor when you see dust show up in your pictures.

I guess pointing down minimizes dust intake somewhat, but trust me, it will get in there no matter what you do. Just use a bulb blower often and wet clean once in a while.

Just put the camera in manual sensor cleaning mode, and stick the nozzle of the blower inside, but don't touch the sensor itself. Hold the camera with the sensor pointed down, otherwise you'll end up blowning dust further inside the body.

As for wet cleaning, I use a , it's easy. Use for when dust can't be dislodged with the blower.

If you want to keep dust out of your camera, don't buy a camera in the first place.

As for wet cleaning, I use a Digital Survival Kit, it's easy. Use for when dust can't be dislodged with the blower.
Thanks! That will help a bunch. I appreciate it!
