I will admit I had afew of crashes with 270 and 275. I've never had such a headache with a game since RAGE. I just wanted to snap the disk into 10000000000000000000000000 pieces. But I read that AMD were having more problems with it? How true this is, I don't know. I haven't installed it on dads PC(cause he only plays Dirt3)

an what the hell is the diffrence?

gainward geforce gtx 460 golden sample graphics card... 1024 mb memory..

or

Zotac GeForce GTX 460 1024mb memory ?

surely its the same car right ?
I'd stay away from Gainward. I haven't heard the best of things. But I've never had one so yeah...
I had a Zotac 460(Wanted PNY but Australia doesn't stock them ). Never had a single problem.

@OP It doesn't matter which one you get. Nvidia drivers have improved since that little accident and both brands will be fine for you.
Ive had no issues with the 270-285 drivers.

AMD has stepped up their game with drivers, I say they are as good as NVIDIA now, And that is saying something.

Either one, The 6850 has lower power consumption, 331w for GTX 460 and 270w for 6850 on load, Which can be a deal breaker for people sometimes.

Anyway, Both cards trade blows with each other, It really ends up being what brand do you favor? AMD/ATI or NVIDIA.

If you play games like Crysis, BFBC2, Battleforge, Then go for the 6850, As those games favor the 6850.

BUT

If you play games like HAWX, Civilization V, DiRT 2, Mass effect 2 and Wolfenstein, The go for the GTX460.

Idle power consumption is on par, But the 460 is louder by a couple decibels.
