Reasons why I should switch to nVidia? - Page 3

The only reason you should switch is if you are not happy with your AMD card, for whatever reason. Besides that, a decent Nvidia upgrade from your current card would be to go for a SLI setup (pair of 560Ti's, 570's or 580's). If you don't need that kind of power, it would be a waste of money.

Regarding your friends, don't let them persuade you out of what works just fine for you.

you already have a 2500k, 8 go 1600mhz ram, nice mobo?? What you want more?

You friend are ignorant... your at the good place here. radeon 6970 is really good and I see no reason you should switch to nvidia unless you want to throw away your money.

The drivers for the 4870 were crap. I had major problems with them. The new ones for the 5 and 6 series are actually good with the 6 series having even better ones.

theres no point in getting upgrading right now. even with the gtx 580. the results would not be worth the price. id say wait it out till the 7xxx series or go crossfire

1. there is almost no difference in tesselation between amd or nvidia. it's about how good the card is.

2. driver support has become much much better since the 4xxx series

3. nvidia has to pay millions of dollars to game companies to put physx in their games. kinda stupid

4.CUDA isn't about games. it's about playing videos. the ati equivalent would be stream

5. amd's equivalent HD3D. the exact same thing

6. remember the 5xxx series?

in 1080p mode the 570 is usually like 2 or 3 fps better. really doesnt make a difference and not worth it. in higher resolutions like 2 monitors amd wins

1. Actually there IS a notable difference, specially when we are talking about performance and FPS.
2. Yeah, but they aren't as effective as the nvidia one. If you can't admit that, then we are in trouble.
3. And? You don't have to pay anything. Who cares if nvidia pays extra money to satisfy more to their users?
4. I know what CUDA is. Its also for rendering stuff (speeds up render times). Stream is not even close to equalize the CUDA cores, I'm sorry bro.
5. The exact same thing? Are you serious? Come on man, 3d vision is not the same as 3d vision surround and I've tested both systems, the HD3D and 3D VS and the 3D VS wins but by far. There's no comparison.
6. Remember the 5xx series?

1. HardOCP benchmarks on Metro 2033 and Deus Ex show identical performance from the 6970 vs 580 at 2560 x 1600 resolution.

Deus Ex:
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/...mance_review/7

The 580 is 3 FPS faster.

I can't find the particular Metro benchmark (it was a 6990 review and HardOCP search is bugged for me) so here's one at 1920 x 1080:
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/..._card_review/8

2-3 FPS difference between 6970 and 580.

AMD tessellation is fine.

2. Gone through 11.2 (since I bought this card) to 11.10 with 0 problems ever.

3. You have 1 game out of this entire year that uses PhysX (Alice).

4. Why would you encode with GPUs anyway? It looks like crap compared to standard CPU encoding:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/t...-2100-tested/9

5. Eyefinity, HD3D, etc.

6. 4870, 5xxx series with DX11, etc.

Stop being an ignorant fanboy.
