I love Heroes of Might and Magic. I first played 2 and LOVED it, 3 improved it for the most part and IV and V I hated.
VI may be good but it looks a lot like V and is published by Ubisoft so I am going to pass. That series is dead, I still play it sometimes but I think they need to let that IP die.
If any Heroes fans are looking for a fun strategy game please check out King's Bounty: Armored Princess or King's Bounty: The Legend.

Played the demo and I really like the new combat system and health bars etc. etc. (not sure if all that was new in a previous version...I haven't played since 3
Too bad I suck at turn based strategy
edit: Also, is it just me, or has stacking ranged units always been imbalanced in this game?
Not if you know how to deal with them. There are spells that will cause them not to shoot, spells that protect against their damage and also if you have fast units or flying units and use haste you can get troops next to them in the first turn and then they are much weaker and only do half damage. Plus most ranged units have pretty low attack and defense values, making them less effective against high level units.
Oh yeah, if you had large stacks of ranged units the computer would typically attack them first.Edited by Mygaffer - 10/13/11 at 5:09pm
