Asus Crosshair V formula board may have hampered Bulldozer - Page 14

well asrock also uses ufei bios so its just asus not ufei persay...we mite get sum gains but bulldozer is still a lil bit dissapointing...i mean if all you do is hi res gaming its not horrable in most games it pretty close to sandy (AT HI-RES)...im waiting a couple months than ill decide if i should drop in fx or get a p67 and a sandy

do you not have any software education at all ? optimization is not a simple matter.

and, it still came out ahead. as advertised, as intended. it will get better as optimizations are available, be it a few weeks, be it a few months.

exactly what is your argument here ? you would be satisfied if a NEW framework performed much better than anything else, before software made to work with it was available ?

are you aware that, if you remove the specific instruction sets and optimizations, the best cpu in the world we have today would perform like a steaming pile of s**t compared to how it runs with them ?

just exactly what is the problem ?

The FX-8150 is priced at a level between the 2500K and 2600K however given the market targeted by the AMD CPU and upcoming release of the 2700K which will affect the 2600K price we feel the 2600K is the most appropriate comparison CPU now and in the coming months. So, starting with the two synthetic tests we see that when the Intel CPU has a small lead over the AMD chip with the fully multi-threaded Cinebench scoring the 2600K around .80 points ahead when both have their turbo feature enabled.

Moving to Photoshop it comes as no surprise that Intel have the lead here, it is something which has been the case for many generations of products and Bulldozer/FX has not changed this.

We have to admit to feeling slightly disappointed with Cinebench R11.5 performance, especially as the new FX 8150 has two extra cores and is clocked 300mhz higher than the last generation Phenom II X6 1100T processor. The performance variable is minimal.
We done now?

by now i have no hesitations that dozer chip will get ahead even intel's 2600 in a few months.

however my itch is now different. i got a am3+ board with a phenom i bought so i would shove in bulldozer when it came, but, im thinking whether the future is in the 'trinity' and 'apu' thing.

of course, being unable to find any meaningful activity outside gaming to do with a powerful cpu as a daily entertainment or productivity activity, also is affecting my approach.

in short im thinking that the processor power we have today is much above any serious usage we may produce in our daily lives. even for gaming. i dont think i would have any issues with my phenom doing two way crossfire with monster cards.

i dont do video encoding. i dont do folding home or seti or whatnot.

i have pushed the cpu usage in my ubuntu install to the max with 30+ firefox windows, instant messengers, and also set the pulseaudio server to max settings (float32le etc) and forced it to needlessly resample every mp3 to 96 khz, and i even ran mount and blade warband in 1920x1200 resolution in max settings through wine, all at the same time and i was not even able to get to 30% usage in cpu's 4 cores.

so why i should buy a more powerful cpu, be it a dozer, be it an intel.

does not compute.

totally pointless from an engineering side because the thing in question is a new chip to which the tooling process of factories have not even adapted fully yet. leaving aside any optimizations, libraries, support from software side.

if the target is 2600 market, it will get that market in 3-4 months at most.
