Aren't all you AMD users underwhelmed that at best, the BD chip only slightly outperforms an intel chip that has been out for a while? I miss the days of GOOD competition where each manufacturer trumps the next on it's new release. We need more competition for our end user's benefit.
You're right, however, you must understand that AMD's yearly budget is less than Intel's monthly budget. So it's no surprise that AMD's aren't making as large strides as Intel.
Quite honestly, it's Intel that I'm disappointed with. With that huge of a budget, their chips are marginally faster than AMD.

It would appear that way.

Same here. I switched a few years ago and couldn't be happier. Sure their boards always offer nice features, and good layout, however, their performance was never what it should have been IMO.

My old A8N32SLI deluxe (skt 939) was a great board. I really liked it, but, Asus's BIOSes are pretty bad, not to mention power management on the board was not what it should have been (or as good as they claimed). Switched to DFI and wouldn't ya know it, they same CPU on the DFI board was able to go 200MHz higher at the same voltage.

Regardless, I think that BD is pretty decent overall. On the 12th when I was readin the reviews, a motherboard issue was the first thing that popped in my head.

Now lets see how all this pans out. Regardless, when (if) I upgrade, I'll probably get BD anyway. I believe that software will mature and be able to utilize BD style chips to their fullest extent.

I'm still waiting this one out for a bit to see what kind of improvements will be seen from optimization.

Wish I could say the CHV worked out for me with zero issues but that wasn't the case here and I am one of those that posted on the egg about it.

Long story short:
Got it new 7-3-11, it went flakey on 7-23-11 and did the RMA to Asus (Invalid input range error that once it happened it never went away - Buggy BIOS problem?):

Got it's replacement in late August 8-30-11 that never made it into the OS (Consistent USB overvolt error that never went away) after two days of working with it using multiple CPU's known to be in good working order, sent it off again about a week after I got it for another RMA board:

Got the replacement's replacement two weeks ago and that one has been good so far, no issues to note.

I noted about the time I was having problems these boards began to show up in force with problems in the reviews, alot of these were USB overvolt errors being stated as the cause of the problem.
I've used Asus boards for years and nearly all still work to this day. I do know even the best makers of boards and what-not can make a lemon just like anyone else and I'm hoping my troubles are over with now.

Because the AMD has much lower minimums as you can see in the graph. It dips much lower than the Intel CPUs.

Quote:
What you see above is no mistake, we ran the test multiple times on the AMD FX-8150 system to make sure we didn't screw something up. The AMD FX-8150 consistently produced an average framerate of 40 FPS each time we tried it. Both the Intel i7 2600K and 2500K thoroughly blew the AMD FX-8150 out of the water by providing a whopping 42% faster performance with the Intel i7 2600K.

When we overclocked the AMD FX-8150 to 4.6GHz we experienced a significant performance increase in this game, 17% faster than it was at stock settings. However, even with 17% faster performance, it was still not able to reach up to Intel Core i7 2600K and 2500K stock performance in this game.

We also looked at CPU utilization on the AMD FX-8150 to see how well the game was utilizing the CPU. We noticed that all 8 cores were being utilized while we played the game, each core carried a load, none laid flat on the graph. We also noted that the highest peak total CPU usage while gaming was 76%. This indicates that the CPU is being used well in the game as far as utilization goes. There is simply no denying that the Intel equivalent CPUs are superior for performance in this game at this time.

I highly doubt HardOCP is going to lie.
