Proof?

All of the tests run on an ASRock Extrem4 show that BD owns at hi-res gaming. SB owns at low-res and alot of the applications.

BD isn't for everyone, only those looking for hi-res gaming. If you're into low-res gaming or apps, I'd get the SB.

For hi-res gamers like me, I like to turn my settings way up so BD is better.

If there's one thing for certain, we're seeing different benchmarks between different motherboards...using the same FX-8150.

If anything, the variable is the board, not BD.

The FX-8150 is a 32nm, 125w chip with 8MB of L2 and L3 cache. It has an advertised speed of 3.6GHz however like other high end processors it has the ability to tailor its speed depending on the current workload. This means we idle down lower when the processor is not in use and when under load this model is capable of hitting speeds between 3.9GHz (All cores) and 4.2GHz (50% of cores).
They assumed the turbo mode is a basic function of the chip and left it on.

Being able to read is really nice.

ASrock boards are made by Asus.

If you'd like, I'll take whatever different picture angles of my 2x6990 if you don't the picture. But if I'm going to take the time to do the work, you promise you will give me a public apology when I provide them.

The truth is I own roughly 12x 6990, I can take a picture of those too if you'd like.

You want to call my "bluff", I'll make you eat crow.

I don't know, this is strange, preety rare. All the tests that hardware heaven performed in gaming area, are titles that are extremely biased in favour of AMD, come on, F1 and Deus Ex were used by AMD for testing and advertising all their videocards and cpu's. I would love to see some Crysis 2, Crysis and GTA IV, because it is preety strange that the i7 performed 0.8 points better at Cinebench and better in almost all syntetic benchmarks and that it looses at gaming. Also, did you see the advertisement in hardware heaven at the top of the review that talks only about amd and their new ultra high class unlocked cpu's and their terrific HD 6950? I believe I can say that the review is extremely biased. I feel sorry for all AMD fanboys, really.

PS: The power that this CPU consumes at load is extremely high in any review, as you can see, 240 W it's not an option, at least for me.

yeah the power consumption does bother me.

Crysis is out for benchmarking its horribly optimized. Crysis 2 is OK but not great.. BF3 is probably the FAIREST.... even though the nvidia guys had a contract with DICE for all of the previews at their gaming conventions.

And in BF3 it does keep up and surpass the i7 and i5 at stock speeds. So I think that is the sign that the architecture was designed for future games that are multithreaded and graphic intense.

Yeah, but BF3 is ONE game in which the BD surpasses the i7, and only by a few FPS. As I already said, the fact that the i7 is faster even in heavy multithreaded tasks as Cinebench, shows that the octo-core means nothing.

thats because its not octo core. 8 cores actually equate to roughly 6 cores if you will. they are not half core, but also not full core either. they are called modules.

so you can say that intel chip is being matched by a chip that is almost its equal in regard to core amount.

Not true. From the ASUS CVF website: 3 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual x16 or x16, x8, x8) [http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD...pecifications]

So let me make sure I understand: in other words, the CPU is used less at higher resolutions? If so, it does not matter if it is FX or SB in the socket, the GPU is handling the processing moreso at higher resolutions?
