Asus Crosshair V formula board may have hampered Bulldozer - Page 30

I really doubt this, you'd think that AMD would test the sample board being sent out for reviews before they send it to absolutely everyone instead of taking Asus's word that it works well.

You have thought that about alot of stuff man unless this is your first rodeo, sometimes while in competition you jump the gun a little..

Testing was done for sure, the chip works and in some cases better than it's competition. It's nothing crazy but it is something which still give AMD people some hope of the things to come.

It's amazing how quickly misinformation can spread around here.
Especially given that I posted _the exact same thing_ you just posted 20 posts ago...

Almost all of my stuff is Intel (SB, Xeon Nehalem, Xeon Westmere). I've switched to Intel for awhile now. I do own an overclocked Sempron but I don't even have the Phenoms.

But I'm open to change....it's great for consumers if BD can match Intel and that results in lower pricing for everybody.

These new BD benchmarks certainly make things interesting.

This reminds me of the days when conroe owned the phenom I. they revised them and still conroe came up on top.

I think every motherboard goes through revisions to enhance performance and include new features.

The Asus Crossfire board may work but it's certainly a possibility that it will get an updated bios in the future.

The ASRock board is putting up really impressive numbers for BD; Crossfire V may catch up.

ok, I'm gonna reopen this, if it goes out of control again it's getting closed for good though. You have been warned.

On a topic related note yes the CHV has 16x 8x 8x but so does the ASrock Fatal1ty... and the fatal1ty WAS (havent looked on newegg lately) 40 dollars cheaper.

On topic, if there was a problem with the CHV reviews two things would have happened..

  1. AMD would have made a statement explaining as much, complete with why there were problems. Instead they made a blog where they defended the results.
  2. ASUS would have also made a statement, which would have followed suit with AMD's statement.

Because neither of these happened, and AMD publicly defended the results, it stands to reason there is no problem with the CHV, and anyone saying different has no ground to stand on.

Quite honestly, it's Intel that I'm disappointed with. With that huge of a budget, their chips are marginally faster than AMD.

.

That's why it sucks for us end users. INtel don't see the need to push the boundaries as much as they can. They don't really have the solid competitor anymore that they used to.

My point needs to be re-iterated. It's a damn shame that BD and its support was released in the state it is. I hope for all of us they make some good gains with optimization's but unfortunately most will still have that sour taste in the mouth. It's not like the platform is a flop it's just not the dominating force in 3d gaming they said it would be. Sure, server's will benefit from more cores but I don't see the use for 20+ cores being a big seller at this point or any time soon. They have pushed the boundaries in that avenue at the cost of the mainstream market which is all they hold sway.
