Asus Crosshair V formula board may have hampered Bulldozer - Page 34

Well guys, this is actually good news. I hope that BIOS'es keep getting better so AMD's performance rockets through the sky.

Also only that is the only way to keep Intel growing, and not jacking up their prices.

Looking forward to new benchmarks

lots of wrong here.

Trinity is Bulldozer architecture with a GPU. It's the upgrade from Llano (Athlon II architecture with GPU). Will use FM2 platform. Trinity will use Piledriver cores (with same BD architecture) and is rumored to be pushed up to Q1 2012.

Komodo is the name of what was supposed to replace Zambezi (bulldozer for desktop). Articles a few months back, however, indicate Komodo has been cancelled and Vishera has been pushed up. Vishera will be Zambezi with Piledriver Cores. Vishera is rumored to also use AM3+ platform.

from what i read they will be attempting to use the same socket for both platforms.thumb.gif
as for pulling an Intel i wish they would, PGA need to seriously go where it belongs in the past and turn into a legacy item.(pga is seriously 20 years old)
for all reasons and concerns AMD could have switched sockets a long time ago and been able to continue backwards compatibility.
but everyone cried about them changing socket and look where amd is now.

This video shows no difference between the CHV and GD80.

Actually it was Al Qaeda's fault for Bulldozer's performance being poor.

I like chew's from xtremesystem take on bulldozer:

Comparing at resolutions and settings I will not run is not comparing.

I only have 1 concern, will I noticeably lose performance in the games I play at the settings I use with almost identical hardware and realistic clock configurations.

If yes then BD is not for me.

If no then I have no issues using it.

No, not really. There are some "professional" reviews that show differences and there some that show little difference. That you found someone doing one that shows little difference is not the same as myth busted.

I find it interesting that there are so many discrepancies in the tests done so far. That said one site that I think does good work, sweclockers, said they tested on multiple boards and got the same result. But - it is not really as bad as you want it to be and it didn't live up to the hype - that don't make it bad.

I hope and think the issues with it will be worked out with bios and stepping and later on with piledriver.

There are none.

Any standardize test returns the exact same results...

Check the bulldozer owners club for more disappointment.

The test results are not all the same. Some say this some say that - that is what is called a difference. That on the whole the bulldozer chips aren't what people expected is another matter.

Let me put it this way - you believe one thing, I believe another (or at least that there is room for some doubt). You're going on about bulldozer like it is the end of the world - chill a bit. It is not that important.
