Yep, especially with motherboards.

im now rather optimistic about the performance of this chip.

before, i knew that the new 'slap modules/cores without needing new r&d' approach would produce 20, 24 cores in 1 year and even more cores in the next years, drowning us in a sea of multi-cores, and the silicon would get better as time passed and revisions made, but now i see that the chip may be competent even from the start if whatever is causing this is fixed.

Hopefully the next couple weeks will bring good things. If not, im prepared to move on. And save some money i guess.

actually it is a given that more cores will perform better. its just a matter of time before proper libraries, extensions, whatever is used and/or software is made to work on more cores. the performance increase of silicon cutting getting better in quality and the factory lines becoming proficient in cutting this chip would be added juice on top. totally leaving out what will happen with any kind of revisions.

that being said, my mind is still going towards the apu thing. this trinity business ...

Most of the DOA's come from people that want to throw every thing they got on the board, and then expext it to boot right up and run perfect.

Mine took 10 to 15 mins messing around with the board, even with the basics on the board just to get it to post.

After that, Home Run.

I am not trying to troll i was an AMD user years ago. But the recent domination of intel chips swayed me for my pc gaming.

Aren't all you AMD users underwhelmed that at best, the BD chip only slightly outperforms an intel chip that has been out for a while? I miss the days of GOOD competition where each manufacturer trumps the next on it's new release. We need more competition for our end user's benefit.

im not.

i got engineering education. i know that new stuff, whatever it may be, comes out under its prime. except some construction projects that need to be picture perfect at the start.

for any kind of systems (and with systems i am lumping in anything ranging from factories to aircraft to other stuff) there may be teething problems. and in fact in most projects these are expected. the case is even heavier in regard to stuff with information technology.

..............

for pc gaming though, actually i am underwhelmed by everything. i had had come to the conclusion that cpu power is not so much a factor in games anymore, since we are much more gpu bound. in most games cpu remains underutilized. and the need for making games also work on consoles does not help. it ******* pc gaming.

back in 90s, when you made an overclock or upgraded your cpu, it made visible difference. now it only increases imperceptible fps count.

AMD is and has allways been the working mans chip.

For the price differnce to the comparable intel chip, I consider this a "WIN".

I understand your point, however i just upgraded from a dual core that bottle necked my gpu's. SO IMO that perception is moot.

This is what I meant yesterday when I said ASUS was "scrambling". Literally looked like a bomb went off. Never heard so many expletives being shouted in my life.
