so he was trying to say that his contacts in asus told him asus was scrambling (for whatever it is) and there was much cursing going on ?

Huzzah!

I have renewed faith in Bulldozer! (I was going to buy it anyway)

I knew the benches seemed way off for something priced so high...

Here is the Jeux 3D (French) review of the 8150, using the ASUS M5A99X EVO (AM3+) , and you can see that they could not even get the game Shogun2 to run at all with either the 8150 or the 6100 in this configuration.

IMG0033872.gif

Here is Hardware Heaven's review of the 8150 using the ASRock 990FX Extreme4 mobo.

attachment.php?attachmentid=233670&stc=1&d=1318551930

So, HH was able to not only run Shogun2 where the other site said FX was not even capable of doing this , but they showed that the 8150 outperformed the 2600 in this very CPU intensive game. I mentioned this yesterday, and was of course showered with dung continuously for pointing out that something was not right with these reviews. How is it that some people can make the FX sing, while others can't even get it to groan? My guess is that the good performance seen in the HH review is the norm, and the bad performance in other reviews is due to some issue with setup/BIOS/Drivers or something.

that means the problem is not limited to asus crosshair v formula, but other asus boards are problematic too.

I switched from Asus boards 3 builds ago. Their bios updates were horrid. This was in the athlon days and phenom 1 days. I got tired of having to flash back to default bios because the new ones screwed up more than they helped.

Asus makes some good products. I have one of their G series gaming laptops. I love it. But their support in drivers and bios updates is pretty terrible. I have no idea why AMD chose them as the flagship for BD. I bought an ASrock and Im extremely happy with it. I may still get an 8150 whenever it is in stock again.

Came across this site also and the results where not the same as other site showing Bulldozer in a different light.
There full review is now up.
http://alienbabeltech.com/main/amds-fx-8150-vs-core-i7-phenom-ii-bulldozer-arrives

Just like the hardware heaven site used a asrock extreme 4 990fx motherboard and faster 1866 memory and got better results.
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1285/pg10/amd-fx-8150-black-edition-8-core-processor-vs-core-i7-2600k-review-deus-ex-human-revolution.html

Check out this site and look at the yellow bench which is the 1920*1200.Some of those benches or showing better than the intel at higher resolutions. Maybe because the amd 990fx has dual 16 pci express lanes

http://www.techspot.com/review/452-amd-bulldozer-fx-cpus/page10.html

They used a Asrock Falatality board on those benches.
They also looked like to have benched all 4 bulldozer chips.

I never expected it to beat sandy bridge just close the gap on it.
I personally would llike to see if it does like the apu does and handles all the stuff programs running in the background, like they wher showing with the AMD APU verse the intel solution.

Since AMD Bulldozer is designed for multi thread application wonder could it handle multiple programs open and running at the same time with out lossing performance.

Please excuse the bad grammar and typing.

This is good in your eyes?

Where is the good?

AMD's 8150 performs the same clock for clock in most multithreaded programs than an i5-2500k, where is the good?

They used an Asrock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional (AMD 990FX) and BD generally still lost MANY on those benchmarks. You AMD boys are still complaining eh? Don't blame it on an Nvidia GPU. Bulldozer didn't turn out as most expected. Even me.
