Asus Crosshair V formula board may have hampered Bulldozer - Page 9

Balla, even though in the reviews it did not blow it up, it did hold its own respectively. I will admit if the revisions to software ultimately prove it to be the equivilent of the i5 its done well enough for now. It opens up huge possibility with later revisions and evolution of the tech. Although if it does only match the i5 as of this time, then in turn it is a bit inflated on the price.

That being said though this is a new chip, and with pretty much all new things you spend a bit more after release. They get the higher price from the people who will clean out stock, then drop the price for everyone else after they stop cleaning out store stock.

As a release product, I think they hit the mark. A few tweaks down the road and we have a nice performer. It may not game ultimately as well as an Intel chip per say or it may. But the capabilities of this chip are going to be huge in productivity.

Also one final note! THIS IS NOT AN 8 CORE CPU! Despite what they market it as. Its a quad core with a physical approach at Hyperthreading. Even though the guys at AMD market as such. Which in my opinion was the biggest failure of AMD in regards to this. So for a Quad core CPU. Not bad at all. Now if only people would get these bloody Memory Benchmarks out for me to dig through so I could be happy.

Typical post from Balla. He posts the fps results from Civ V, A TURN BASED GAME, and thinks it is relevant to in game performance reviews. Look at the graph, there are different things happening during the gameplay on the three systems. There simply is no way to get an accurate test of this game between the systems, as it plays different every time no matter whether you start from a saved point or not. IMO the one thing that you can glean from this graph is that FX does just as well as the 25/600 in general in this game, which is known to be among the heaviest CPU usage games around.

It is a eight core cpu.

It's per core performance reflects that.

Civilization V is a very CPU intensive game. That's what people want to see...hot, demanding CPU usage to see it's true performance. Not some test where the CPU is limited or being held back by another hardware. So your against him posting this graph, but you totally flip out when others call you out when posting a GPU limited graph? You've taken quite a beating:lachen:

the approach of some people seems to be persuade everyone that a NEW technology that is just out, and keeping up with the competition and even besting it at various points, despite being a NEW technology, is a failure at the start before it didnt blow the socks off of competition.

as someone who had education in engineering field, i think that such people could never pull off being engineers.

all new technologies underperform when newborn.

and the silicon cutting process havent even matured for this chip.

That is exactly what I am looking for. I'm not looking for the best because I don't use it to do intense work, edit video or anything else cpu intensive. If it keeps up with 2600k in gaming while using the same gpu, Then I do not see a problem.

The point is that the CPU usage is not steady, predictable or repeatable in this game. All three systems are showing similar performance, but this is simply a game that can not produce the same gameplay/CPU usage for an even comparison between different systems. Look at how many times the fps goes to zero in the FX graph, which means you are at the start of a turn and therefore nothing is happening. Looks like they went through several more turns in the FX test, you can clearly see these between turn troughs, and they are simply different in the tests of the three systems. Glad you get such a guffaw out of incorrectly understanding what you are talking about.

Edit to add: Looks like Balla posted some more 1024x768 game performance reviews . This is not 1998, those tests are completely meaningless Balla. Try again, eventually you might stumble onto something that actually has some relevance to this discussion.

some technologies cannot under perform at all at first release. Imagine the guidance systems on the new F22 being unable to track a target fast enough?

I am disappointed this chip was released prematurely. It seems like a desperate attempt to claw away at intel's ever growing profits. I hope it gets sorted soon because I want to see more competition. Are there any reviews with a quality Sli or crossfire set up?
