This task manager and the details tab with the extra graphs looks so much better than OSX Lion. The hierarchical categorization and color coded "heat maps" will help more novice users make sense of the task manager. It seems like MS incorporated a lot from Mark Russinovich's Process Explorer (who now works at MS).

I like it! Heat map's a great idea, and I like switch to the minimalist view at first

not bad, very clean and detailed.

i actually like the fact that it groups processes according to their type such as background process, application and such.

though for the average not-caring person, it sure is a lot of numbers tongue.gif

I agree. Unfortunately about 99.9% of computer users do not know what a GPU is, so adding this is not likely to be a priority. On the upside, this new WTM looks to be almost as good as the free "task manager" type of programs like System Explorer. Eventually they will catch up with what people are already giving away for free.rolleyes.gif

P.S. Glad I made the System Explorer link, I noticed they have a new version out.

Though, I guess everyone has their reasons. I like it personally.

hes probably someone who doesnt believe in progress

i like it. its good. if it continues to allow us to view services and processes on a deeper level im okay with it. this setup is going to help quite a bit for the average user...a lot more user friendly.

MS already has an in-house application called Process Explorer.

Thanks for posting that, I wasn't aware that existed. I just downloaded it and the new version of System Explorer and checked them out side by side. I like the look of the MS Process Explorer better, but I like the layout and process display options of SE better. I noticed what appears to be a "GPU" tab in one of the pics on the d/l page for MS PE , but I am not seeing that tab when I run MS PE. I suspect it may not work in XP, which I am on right now. I will try it out on 7 later and see if that is the case.
