[AMDblog] Our Take on AMD FX - Page 9

I just can't believe that they are trying to spin-doctor this into something positive.

After reading the BD reviews I had to go around my neighborhood and gather like 20
people, cause I didn't have enough hands for the freakin facepalm I had to perform.

It isn't THAT bad of a chip. It does have its moments where it shines, though very few, and it will still do anything 99% of the people out there want it to do. It will sell just fine most likely, if marketed right, which it looks like they are. They push the 8 core and world record thing and the average joe will buy.

This is what happens when you spend 90% on Marketing and 10% on the product itself.

A 32nm Thuban would of been Ideal.

And again with BF3 on a single card on a high resolution... seriously AMD stop lying and trying to cover up the situation. I could care less about a single flopped launch, but it is sickening that you are lying to your customers about it.

I agree that it is not as bad as people say it is, but then again I could not honestly recommend this chip to anyone but a budget encoding machine, making it a VERY niche chip. A year ago it would have been a much better launch. I also agree that it will do most of what you want to do with it, but that does not necessarily make it a good chip. A 980X will also do whatever you want with it, but I would not recommend that to everyone when cheaper solutions do as well. Same deal with BD, cheaper CPUs do what you want them to. Like I said at the top though, what sickens me is that they try to present this chip as (your preferred deity)'s gift to the computer world by showing GPU bottlenecked benchmarks showing it "beating" the competition, core count, and clock speed. I know that they have to market it, but they are flat out lying to their customers.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for any reason myself. That doesn't mean it will not sell though. Most people don't usually have people like us around to sway them into a better purchase, they just go out and buy based on the higher generic numbers on the labels or what the sales person tells them is better. I don't like that they are spinning things either, but like you said, it is marketing and they have a job to do. All companies do this to a point, though some are worse than others of course.

We should all hope it sells like crazy and keeps Intel in check. I pray they market the crap out of it and get some money for future, better products. We, the consumer, need the competition.

Intel would end AMD if they were to drop the prices of their CPUs by like 10%...

I'm an AMD fan but I had to go Intel because it's just better...
