guess who just accidentally broke their brand new 2500k - Page 7

Your loss if you broke it. Don't screw over your fellow OCNer and others by abusing Neweggs RMA service.

I would say that I couldn't see it actually breaking from a fall, BUT my psp fell 2' from my bed to my carpet and died. So... yea. FOL. lol

Wait you dropped it how? Did you oil your hands up before handling it?

Pretty sure the cpu has limited warranty meaning that if it is the users fault that it breaks/stops working then they won't fix it unless you get lucky and get a nice person on the other end. Also next time you might want to add more information other than I dropped it l

This is not a moral situation, it is fraud and dishonesty plain and simple.

Glad it is working, OP. most PC components are pretty resilient.
At least he had enough sense to post about it on this board before going through it.

I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't uncommon, that many beginning system builders drop or hit a component and feel that they rather not 'take any chances' and just RMA and let the retailer deal with the consequences of their incompetence.

BTW, I messed up a thunderbird athlon back in the day due to applying to much force when placing the heatsink. I was honest about my mistake and at least scored a decent discount on the replacement chip (though to be honest I doubt they would have given me a full refund once they saw the condition of the RMA'ed chip had I decided to go the 'defective' route).

If internals have failed and there is no physical damage there is nothing wrong with rma'ing it.

OP tested the chip and it works fine, please read from page one and not the last post

For some people it is called ethics. Just like how people pirate songs and get away with it doesn't mean it is the right thing to do

if morals only apply to those who hold them then society collapses
