Did i mount my heatink a bit wrong? - Page 2

60 is a chilly ambient. That seems a bit high to me. If it is a Gigabyte board, update to the latest bios. Going from f1 to f3 saved me 10C on my proc.

At 15C ambient with C1E and SpeedStep enabled at stock clocks you should be around 20-25C at idle and around 45-50C at load. There are variables but those would be my expected temps.

Vyen, how did you apply the Thermal Interface material (TIM)? If you have too much, the TIM can act as an insulator. Also make sure to clean both the heatsink and the CPU's Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS). When applying Arctic Silver 5 (AS5), you want to use a small amount. The generally accepted amount is a grain of rice sized amount in the center of the CPU's IHS. The below is taken from AS's site on applying TIM:

The left pic shows a Q6600 quad core application (how the cores are oriented under the IHS). and the dual core is on the right.
Audi has a thread showing a mechanical pencil tip being used for application. It works really well.

AS5

Here is the results from the mechanical pencil tip application:
