2.1 setup

Thread Starter
I was one of the lucky few this past weekend who got a creative soundblaster x-fi hd for $47... but I have crap for speakers (some $20 best buy something). So in the near future I will be upgrading them and I have decided to go 2.1... maybe 2.0... anyways, I am going to be staying on the lesser side of $200 and know practically nothing about speakers. I have read a lot of good reviews about klipsch however the new stuff is apparently cheaper??? I'm also a corsair mini-fanboy (I've had a good relationship with them so far) and have seen mostly not-negative reviews on the sp2500.

Klipsch Promedia 2.1

Corsair SP2500

I know the sp2500 are a bight higher priced than what I'm looking for but I have seen them on sale before and I'm sure they will be again. Like I said time is not important.

So... watch the sp2500 for a sale or go with klipsch? or go with one of you fine peoples recomendations??

I would go the Corsair, since everyone loves it. The specs are nice, and it has more features.

I will be getting it, or a 5.1 version of it. If that ever comes out anyways haha.

I have had my Promedia's for maybe 3 years now and they still rock. I have them hooked up to an X-Fi Titanium. Those new Corsair's look great too though. just a bit more than I would want to pay. I think either one would be great, it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend.

Also, everyone knows how kick-ass Corsair's customer service and product quality is.

Got two sets of the Klipsh myself. Bought my first set 4 years ago off fleabay for nothing and they still rock. I have no idea how old they really are but they sound just as good as my set that's a little over a year old.

I will tell you my only complaint about the speakers to note, and both of my sets are doing this, is the Sub and Volume Knobs get loose with time but they are relatively easy to tighten up.

If you want the best speakers, you'll want the Audioengine A2. It has decent bass from the speakers anyway. You can always add a sub later. These will hold their value. Meanwhile, if you buy the others, they will be worth significantly less when it's time to sell and are inferior speaker wise.
