Bass penetrating walls?

I live in a townhouse apartment, and I'm afraid I may be pissing my neighbor off. He hasn't said anything though. Is there any way I can enjoy my musics and not wake people up?

Listen to music when he's not home. Or reinforce your walls with two feet of cinderblock.

Hi,

Bass is pretty hard to contain, low freqs require mass and decoupling to control. If it's on a floor that has a wooden structure underneath it a "subdude" type thing might work well for you, it won't work wonders but it might stop rattling. Otherwise only things you could do require contruction, as you mentioned "apartment" I am guessing that contruction is out of the picture?

I would just ask your neighbor if the bass is bothering him. If it is than just crank it up when he is not home.

either insulate the adjacent wall, or just turn the sub down almost all the way. i lived in an appt. b4. i was able to go knock on my neighbor's door while the music was where i like to listen to it. just to see how loud it was. the sub was the only thing that was strong through the wall.

If you really are concerned, just do this. If it is bothering him, he probably wont say anything until it gets to be really bad (for him). No harm in just asking right now.
