Monitor won't display, gtx 580

Thread Starter
Hey guys.. I just got a gtx 580 along with a new motherboard (asus p8z68-vpro) and a new processor (i7-2600 sandy brigde). Everything is working fine except for my gtx 580. This is a fresh install of windows. I can't get display when I connect my monitor to my gtx 580 using a dvi/vga converter.. but when I plug my monitor directly into my motherboard I get display (onboard gfx of course). Any ideas of what the problem is? Thank you for the help.

Does your monitor require this DVI/VGA adapter? Or can it connect DVI to DVI?

If you have a cable for it, then I recommend connecting it this way.

RMA'ing first in this situation is like formatting and starting over when all you have to do is reboot.

I appreciate the help TwoCables, but I don't have a dvi to dvi cable. I think I did find the problem however. It's the graphics card. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier, but I plugged in my old card (hd 6870) and it worked fine. At least I think it's the card, could it be something else?
