AMD 1100t Question

Thread Starter
Alright guys I have a fairly decent system...I had a 1100t on it about 7months ago and it was oc'd to 4.5ghz on Air...It ran stable and didn't have incredibly hot temps but after about a month on start up it would tell me that 5core are enabled when it used to say 6 It was replaced and I got another I have had it for about 4months now, never overclocked but about 2 weeks ago it says 5cores are enabled, what do you guys think I should do? Go with a 1090t and overclock it, buy the Asus Rog Crosshair IV AM3+(I am on the older one that is only am3) or any other suggestions?

Hi.

Did you checked the BIOS option for "Auto unlock cores", disable it and make your sure that all cores are enable.

@saint19: He shouldn't unlock anything, the 1100 already has 6 cores

You need to see why it only sees the CPU as a 5 core. Is the second CPU toasted, or is the mobo faulty... after finding this out we'll have a better understanding of what you should do. You should test this 5core CPU on a known good board and see if it boots and works stable as an X6 and not X5 - if it does it might be the board that's broken and a new board may be in order; if the CPU is bad, then RMA or if you're out of warranty you might use it as an x5 on your current board, unless you absolutely need the 6th core in which case an OCed 1055 could be a good idea..

could be a motherboard issue, Im with the first guy on disabling auto core unlock. Also check for any newer bios options for your board

I know that have six cores, but I had a similar problem with my 1090T and was solved disabling the "unlock cores" option in BIOS, don't why can affect but just my experience.

I dont know where you are refering too but that is a feature for the x2, and x3 cpu's which were all really x4's. There is a new x4 too that unlocks to an x6 but forgot the name of it, newegg is currently sold out.

Disable it, then enter windows and go to task manager, under performance you will see 6 cores. Also you can download coretemp and see active cores, plus you can use their widget to monitor temps and load, etc.

Disable the auto unlock cores. Then download CPU-Z. Look at the information it provides. You should see 6 cores.

That options disable the "auto" unlock core function not the core himself, so, at least that you disable the cores in BIOS the rig should boot with all six cores enabled.
