Will my sig rig handle BF3?

Thread Starter
Just ordered this 6950 for $200 on Amazon

XFX ATI Radeon HD6950 2 GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/2x Mini-Displayport PCI-Express Video Card

Based on my sig rig, is my CPU/Mobo going to bottleneck performance too much or will this new GPU give me the performance boost needed to play BF3 at decent graphics/FPS? (Previous card was a 9800GTX+ 512 MB)

I know "technically" I meet the system requirements but I'm just not sure.

You'll be right mate, just save up for a CPU/Mobo upgrade when you can, will help compliment the rest of your rig. The GPU you ordered is a very good card.

EDIT*** and also look into getting a new power supply, that's the one thing you dont want to skimp on.

I'm assuming you will be bottlenecked by CPU, and you don't even list your PSU (you just state 500W, not a good sign so far). I also believe you need to give us more information, what resolution will you be gaming on & do you prefer AA/AF while playing?

I'm on a 24" Monitor so I'll be playing at 1900x1200. I can't remember what brand my PSU is (Literally has no markings on it for some reason). I think I'm fine just using AA instead of AF

Hmm, PSU is not something that should be skimped out on. I would suggest to find out what it is, and that way we can tell you if it's legit enough to keep in your rig!

Do yourself a favour and run atleast 8x AF.

No markings is usually a bad sign, and often means you got a hong kong special that's spec-overrated. Get yourself a nice 650 Watt modular Corsair

True... you guys are right I will probably pick up a new PSU very shortly. I've been able to get by on it just fine but will need a better one anyway when I build a new rig

I PM'd you back btw

Are you sure there are no markings? I've seen some cases where the supply is simply mounted in such a way that the markings are covered up. You've looked at it out of the system, yes?
