At least they don't take it on a tour of California instead. Whenever I order something that ships UPS from LA/San Diego area, it goes right past me (Fresno, central Cali) up to Sacramento (North Cali) and then right back along the same path to me. If it wasn't for that, it could be here second day.

It turns out that mine was waiting to be handed off to USPS. I never knew that UPS and USPS worked cooperatively.

I have the PS3 completely disassembled and borrowed a heat gun, so I'm ready to get to it today or tomorrow as time allows.
YES get them and do firmware updates i read that they found the issue in the controllers and worked on a update for them have to find it though and read more on that...(stopped looking at ssd threads and reviews got boring same complaints)

super cheap for the drives finally

Yeah, apparently they do for "UPS Basic."
I was surprised by that first time I saw it too.

Well, I'm in the process of heating it up as we speak. I just got curious about whether or not any of you have bothered to lap the gpu/cpu/heatsink? Also, has anyone been brave enough to de lid? I'm thinking about running both naked!

So here's the latest update: I managed to fix my PS3 from the YLOD and used it for a bit before I decided to update it to the latest patch. However, I guess this patch is bricking old PS3 "fat" consoles and it did mine as well. I tried a new hard drive, but the same thing occurred. After doing some research, I've learned that Sony isn't doing anything about it and is only offering to sell us refurbished consoles for $150.
I have a $175 gift card for Fred Meyer that our work gives us every couple months, so I may just use that to buy a new one and say forget it. I just think it's lame that their support doesn't offer a solution and I'm forced to buy a new one.

Well, I bought a brand new PS3 Slim yesterday and it came with a free Uncharted 1 and 2 bundle. I took it out of the box, but didn't plug it in and decided to work on my old one for a little bit. It turns out that I fixed my old one, so now I have to make a decision.....
What would you do? Keep the Slim and sell the old one? Keep the old one and return the Slim? I also have to figure out what to do with the M4 SSD that I bought for it.
