Sorry I didn't read you correctly I thought you meant he shouldn't overclock at all!

That's strange. Did you happen to catch your cpu temps? I don't see why it would crash at 3.6ghz when I run 4.0 on air cooled with no crash. I would say try it again

my cpu temps were 48c.

did you run prime while you were at stock clocks to see if you were stable before you started to OC?

no i did, but i have had my pc for 2 years and its never just crashed on me.

The reboot can be because of too low voltage, CPUs are different not every 965 can hit 4 GHz with only 1.375v (as thebassoe got).

If my 965 needs to be stable at 4 GHz i need at least 1.4v, try raising the volt a little and check again.

what cpu volt numbers do i enter coz at the moment it says auto and i have to type numbers in to change it?
Just put all of the voltages back to auto and change the multiplier back to 17 and bus frequency to 200, then just run "OC Tuner Utility" and it will do all of the voltages for you and i think puts the bus frequency on 215, it gives you a pretty nice OC that is stable.
