REFERENCE CARD ? or reference design card ?

THIS ONE ? is a REFERENCE CARD ... does it have the AMD logo across the bottom PCI-e tab ?
IF SO, and I'd assume it is by what you're saying ... you SHOULD be able to UnLock it via the BIOS switch and OC it to HD-6970 level's,
and that should out perform a GTX-480 /or GTX-570 card. So at best you'd have a lateral move replacing it with a GTX-480 /or GTX-570.

/or by reference "design" card do you mean THIS Card ?

Can't see it being this card based upon what you've said so far.

If you got an upgrade itch, let me talk you off the ledge.

Your already into one 6950, the only practicle upgrade is to get another and crossfire. Your half way there.

Another option is to wait until the next gen cards finally come out.

Wait to find out what kind of improvements of performance you might gain from switching to another single next gen card.

I'm going to bet that any new single AMD 7970 or GTX 680 can still be beat slightly by two 6950's in crossfire.

The only upgrade path for you would be expensive and non-practicle.

It's ok bud, your going to be fine. *sings* Wish you would step off from that ledge my friend.....

well HD 6950 unlocked is easily better than GTX 480 & close to GTX 570 cause it is almost equivalent to HD 6970.
