raise all the power limits to 200..my chip prefers 1.835 to 1.845 for pll voltage vtt should be around 1.135 (if that's the memory controller) enable pll overvoltage..and set the pll overvoltage amount to .05-.012

Your pretty much turning off the "Turbo-Charge" portion and features of the chip so you can manually set the clock and it will stay at that clock.

Then you can enable C1E to get your idle clock down to 1.6Ghz and your Load clock to 4.5Ghz or whatever your shooting for.

this is what i have currently set based on some reading i did today.

clock ratio 33 (default)
turbo enabled with each multiplier set to 43
core current limit 200
cpu power limit 100 amps
C1 enabled
C3 disabled
EIST enabled
LLC level 4
Vcore 1.32
VTT 1.12
CPU PLL 1.71

This looks good to me, I'm at 4.8 and have mostly similar settings but
-core current & cpu power I set at 200 or 250 I forget
-I used a higher LLC level, because I was getting very high idle v readings at lower LLC
-VTT I haven't touched from auto
-CPU PLL 1.71, it's like you read one of my posts =P

Disable any peripherals you aren't using. GSata (the Marvel controller), 1394 for me. Plus, under advanced bios options, I turned off the onboard GPU...it's the last option, I set it to (paraphrasing) only turn on if external GPU not detected.

I did NOT enable Real TIme Changes, and don't understand the use of doing so. I'm not saying that's wrong, just that my system doesn't need it.

ALSO it can be picky about memory. Set your memory multiplier manually, not auto - 16x or whatever x100 = your RAM. Make sure that memory TURBO is off, and that you are using the lowest of the 3 settings, I think it's when you change the voltage from auto or maybe the multiplier, but you will get to chose Standard-Quick-Expert, just leave it standard.

Ok bit of an update guys.
i've decided to go for 4.4ghz as for some reason i always seem to get a bsod in some way shape or form with 4.5 and i don't want my volts too high anyway.

so here's the settings i've got with 2 hours stable so far

multi: 44
c1: enabled
c3/c6: disabled
cpu thermal monitor: disabled
EIST: enabled

Multisteps load line: disabled
Vcore: 1.31
QPI/VTT: 1.1
CPU PLL: 1.7

With these settings i appear to have 1.33vcore idle and 1.34 load is this bad that i don't have volts equivilant to what i actually set in the bios

temps are around 42-44 idle and 68 max when under load

let me know what you think

thanks!

More Vcore~

Leave everything on auto pretty much for now, 45x multi, and up your vcore a bit at a time then run prime. You'll find your sweetspot. No worries.

cheers inverse as i've mentioned above my sweet spot for 4.4 seems to be around 1.34 volts is that right?? although after gaming a bit today i'm seeing highs of 1.37 with the settings i have above. what should i change

You need to raise the power limits to 200/200/300 instead of leaving them on auto. I don't know what they are called in the gigabyte bios though.
