yes, Photoshop can be used as a 64bit application now, meaning it can take advantage of the extra ram you give it, so i would take the advice i just gave you and use the money you saved on extra HDD

I'd also recommend the western digital green hard drives, for £2 more you can have a SATA 3 drive with more cache (allowing it to take advantage of its SATA 3 Spec), plus these WD also have a better warranty (IMO)

I'd also say for the graphics card, if your friend is paying so much for this 'Balls Deep' machine, why doesn't he get a more powerful graphics card.... if he wants a good power/performance ratio, get a sapphire 6950 toxic, and flash it. if he doesn't like AMD, well.. maybe a 570 overclocked to 580 performance.
