Antec Kuhler 920 is apparently the best pre-made loop. but there is no way you can build your own for only around 100. EK kits are one of the cheapest I've seen and that's still around 160. but they do provide better cooling because most the pre-made loops don't really have a reservoir and have little wimpy pumps.

For £100 there isn't really anything you can get, A Noctua D14 or a Thermalright SilverArrow would beat any loop for £100. A h100 is about 80 that would be the best bet, If you want something to beat that then A RS240 would be the best value for money.

(thats a £100 loop and thats a total waste of time.)

Generally going for a custom kit is going to be reletively expensive, however kits such as the Rasa RX/RS series are very close to custom built loops.

Im not really sure about the performance difference between the closed loop kits such as the Corsair H series and the Antec Kuhler, however I beileve they do perform slighty better or maybe the same as the best air cooling like the silver arrow and the NH-D14 in some cases. Usually people go for the cloosed loops because of convenience, coolers such as the SA or NH-D14 are very large, so getting a closed loop can work better for your own convenience, whether it would access to your mobo or RAM, it's a little more easier with closed loops.

Eith one would be a good choice, however I would choose the H100, for £80 it's not bad.

You can maybe try and see how the coolers perform, hit the Sandy Stable Club (link is in my sig) and select the 'by cooling' sheet, you can access that by scrolling to the top of the spredsheet. Obviously ambient temps differ but it should give an idea of how each of them perform, it may help you make a decision.

Here is an example:

Both are 4.7ghz with 1.408v.

920

H100

Like I said, hit the Stable club for more info

thanks for so meny replies so fast guys

ok so really the pre built ones are a bit pooh then (even tho im quite impressed by those H100 figures), maybe i could stretch to £160 next week, but its payday and its burning a hole in my pocket lol

i would like to add to it at a later date if it was possible, hence the reason of wanting to go custom.

so like i said £160 will be possible, just not this week lol

thanks guys.

For £160 you will be able to get either a XSPC rs 240 or a rs360 depending on how big your case is. I would recommended replacing the tubing in these kits as the tubing that comes with the kits tends to discolour sometimes. These kits will allow you to expand to include GPU's in the future.
