What? Twitter was definitely not a success because of Facebook. It's basically the quickest and easiest way for an individual or business to communicate a short message to many followers. Retweeting is brilliant and can allow you to find new people to follow easier than FB. Trending allows you to study a developing subject. Messages from businesses and celebrities seem more personal and the hard 140 character limit prevents being overwhelmed in updates from the people you follow. Facebook had little involvement with Twitter's takeoff.
FB and G+ will go the way of Myspace...Twitter will probably stand the test of time, even as social media slowly dies.
