Question about Purchasing From Origin

Thread Starter
I'm going to pre-order BF3 tomorrow and was curious if I should buy it as a download or as a disc? If I buy it as a disc, can I download it at a later time? Reason I'm asking is because I've heard you can only download your game so many times from Origin, is this True? Reason I'm asking is because, I don't know what would be easier, I have a tendency to putmy disk in places that takes me for ever to find them lol. What do you guys suggest?

I would go with digital download, that way it is always there, just make sure to keep a copy of the key they send you in some place safe, they do store it for you, but just in case something happens

I think it makes for less clutter, though some people are fans of having physical media, i prefer just to have the ISO sitting on a separate HD

Its true EA will charge you for additional downloads. I don't know their formula, but I'm almost certain they will. You can buy the disc which I would recommend anyway, or Direct2Drive and amazon both sell digital copies of it; not sure if they charge for re-downloading.

I never heard Origin charging to re-download a game. I downloaded a game a few times and never had a problem.

Not sure where all this misinformation regarding Origin is coming from. Both versions will need the CD-Key to be put into Origin and it will add the game in which case you will download either the full game or updates - similar to Steam.

Nor me, they wouldn't dare to charge for re-downloading as they would lose people to steam.

To double check. If I do order the Hard copy of this, it'll give me the option down the road if needed to be able to download a copy if I lost the disc, just as long as I register it with origin.

I know this happened with me with MW2, and didn't even realize that I had registered it on steam but when I logged into steam years later it had the option to download the game. This is what I'm curious about with origin if I order the actual disk.

You will be able to download it from origin after you've typed in the CD-key even if you have a hard-copy. It works like steam, and you can download it as many times as you want, for free.
