Anyways, ad700s are more recommended than the 555s...although they would both do pretty well. 555s look better in public though.

My ad700s are awesome and the soundstage is amazing.
Bold portion does not make much sense because...why would you wear open back headphones outside of your house in the first place?

Outside? Wear IEMs.

Anyway, while this thread is still running, should I get AD700s or HD555s? Purely for gaming as mentioned (BF3 24/7 trololo). Pros and cons of each?
Does the HD555 mod actually work? I find it surprising that a piece of foam is blocking the potential of 555s.. in a way it costs a couple pennies more to manufacturer 555s over 595s!

I'm probably going to buy the headset in a couple months.
Correct. However, you lose surround capability if you get the TiHD unless you go digital out.

Speaking of headphones, are you sure you want an open back headphone?

Foam mod works, but anyone telling you they sound exactly like the 595's have not actually heard the 595's themselves. The 555's sound similar though, the huge reason a lot of the people grab the 555's instead of the 595's are because of the huge price difference. 595's were generally 70 bucks more.

I personally prefer the velvet over the pleather anyways. So for me it was a pretty easy choice. :]

Pleather? Both the HD555 and 595 have velvet pads. The HD595 has a leather headband which is softer and more comfortable but indeed, it is not worth the extra dough.

yeah, good point

and it`s 7.1 , as i said the HD is stereo (analogue) it can only pass through 5.1 via optical

Anyone know if this card will work well with a Corsair HS1A? debating on upgrading to this card from my onboard especially since my current headset is very quiet.

Waste of money. Is your HS1A USB or analog?

the HS1A is analog, waste of money because my headset sucks? or the sound card is not good? or the sound card just won't power the headset any louder than my current onboard?
