GTX 580 maxed out

Thread Starter
ok so my twin frozr II is up an running and im slowly going through the games ive been putting up with in dx9 with my gtx 260 and ramping them up to dx11 if possible.

First up. Call of pripyat. always looked good and my 260 had no problems running that close to flat out in dx9. thought id go straight into dx11, raise all the bars and see how she performs. no crashing, tearing or bugs. only problem is a steady micro stutter which ou can easily see when running. ive got friends who can run this game perfectly fine on lesser cards with setting maxed so why am i struggling with my 580?

all clocks are stock for this test.

I would think that your Q6600 is bottlenecking your 580.

At 3Ghz it probably is. The Q6600 came out in 2006 and is finally beginning to show it's age although it's still pretty decent.

He should still see much better performance over his GTX260 though.

the question is is your GPU being 100% used? If yes then it's ok. If not, check your CPU useg too...

but I really cannot see how CPU can cause micro stuttering if frame rate is ok. What FPS do you get? Did you reinstall drivers when you swapped graphic cards?
Do these following stuff :

1. Check CPU Usage
2. Update Drivers if you have not
3. Is your CPU on stock clocks ? YES ? -> OC your processor by 15% and see how the game performs.
4.Do you have AA maxed out ? Reduce it from 4x to 2x. Still microstutter ? Reduce to 0x. Still microstutter ?
5. Tell us your ingame FPS

graphics drivers are up to date (280.26 from nvidia website)

device manager in windows says intel drivers are up to date. i have tried the intel website but had no luck and had a quick search on google but didnt find anything positive

i havent measured fps (admittedly i dont know how) but alien vs predator in dx11 has no problems running flat out. the only other test i can try that i know would be a fairly good test on the new card would be far cry 2 or crysis. those two were the only games ive played where the frame rate struggled when a lot was happening on screen.

any other suggestions before i have another look at the problem tomorrow evening are welcome
