I'm fairly sure you need to put 7.

Ok I've got everything set up the way it should be. Now I'll let my baby run for these 24 hours in advance to get it up to shape for the Foldathon. I noticed that once I enabled the GPU to run on the v7 client that within a few minutes the cpu running with GPU tracker dropped in PPD immediately from 11,000+ to 5,000 and an ETA of 9 hours from 4.5 hours. Maybe it takes a while before the 7 thread setting kicks in?

---I have completed 5 WUs with my cpu early each time and I've heard once you get 10 that bigadv is an option for big bonuses. Well now I'm worried I wont have access to bigadv during the foldathon because of the cpu slowing down from the GPU running.

advice?

EDIT: PPD Down to 3,500 (CPU)

In my opinion, you'd be better off just folding bigadv on the i7, and ignoring the GPU, but ONLY if you're able to finish the bigadv's in time. (i.e you need to be folding at least 18 hours a day, preferrably 24/7).

For GPU / CPU, you've done all you can. The AMD card need a whole CPU core to itself.

I think I like the idea of doing the bigadv with my i7. I just wish I could take advantage of my GPU as well...but it seems to slow things down. I'll put it on pause and let the CPU finish up those other WUs so I can get bigadv running during the foldathon.

thanks for the advice omega17
+ 1 rep

& I can let my computer fold 24/7 for a few days

I'm quite impressed by my x6's folding performance so far. The client i'm using (v7) says i should get about 11,900 PPD. So i should get about 20-30k in the foldathon, much better than the 16,000 i usually get when folding with my GPU (7500 PPD).

I don't seem to understand PPD and actual earned points. For one WU I am showing 552 points. Yet the PPD is normally around 14,000+....I'm not earning that many points though in a day right?

PPD is calculating bonus points, which you haven't qualified for yet.

That 552 is the points you get for the WU; once you get 10 of them you get bonus points added to that, which is what the PPD is calculated from.

Or, I could just get 'ed again

--- the X6's are pretty good, my 1090T @ 3.9 is currently dragging in a healthy 16K PPD on SMP

Bring on the FaT!

OK That made sense..I'm slowly putting the puzzle pieces together (hopefully in time for this event )

So is it after every ten ( a repeat cycle) or is it bonus after 10 forever...
