Sorry about the luck WonderMutt.

Mott555 I don't know but I didn't think it would have to be higher than about 4.6Ghz, I would've thought that would work.

I think a 2500K can do regular -bigadv easily at 4.6 but it's the -hugeadv wu's that require 4.8 or more, especially if you get a 6904 wu.

You may be right, maybe his RAM speed was holding him back slightly or maybe he uses his computer too much (I think 4.6Ghz if left alone should do it) or maybe I'm just wrong. I don't know for sure one way or another, I just thought around 4.6 would be enough.

Extreme Newbie I wouldn't be trying hugeadv on a 2500k unless it was a dedicated machine not being used at all and running native linux, but at that point should've just got the 2600k.

I agree but I think there are a couple people who have managed to run -hugeadv on a 2500K. I don't own any 2500/2600k's so I don't know exactly what they are capable of or if anyone has ever completed a 6904 with the 2500K.

Anybody know about how fast a 2500k needs to be for -bigadv folding? 4.6 GHz proved too slow in my case.
You should be fine to fold bigadv WUs. I'm at 4.7GHz and I can fold bigadv WUs fine, I just can't do the hugeadv WUs (6903 and 6904). If you just follow Digi's Guide and set the Corefix.sh file to 8 instead of 12, you should be good to go. I did this running Ubuntu in a VM and I can finish all bigadv WUs with plenty of time to spare. Hope this helps!

I have been able to complete 6903s before using Ubuntu in a VM, but it was very close (within 3 hours of deadline) and that was using the system a minimal amount. Also, I'm at 4.7GHz OC. As for the 6904s, I've not been able to complete one on time, so I've actually set my SigRig just to do bigadv WUs (non 6903/6904). Those I can complete just fine. That is also with my Rig folding a GPU client as well (for the non-6903/04s anyway). I had to shut my GPU clients down to finish the 6903 on time. At 4.7GHz a 6904 just won't finish in time (actually my last one finish and uploaded 12 minutes after deadline).

Extreme Newbie, lol you don't know how us plebeians manage with only 4 cores.

I don't if 2500ks can do hugeadv either, my only experience with it has been a guy posting a few different thread in here that he kept missing the deadline on 6904s, don't remember his speed though.

lol. I figured it would be a good incentive for people to fold this foldathon.

Hmm, well I'll just have to try again and see what happens. I know I can get 4.7 stable, never got 4.8 stable so to be safe I dropped down to 4.6. Maybe I just got unlucky and had a really big WU or something.
