My corsair force 3 120gb is only getting 212mb/s read and 145mb/s write with latest firmware and AHCI enabled in the bios. Im running it on my crosshair v formula with latest bios and have tried every sata port with the same results. The rated speeds are 550mb/s read and 510mb/s write, is there something that I'm missing?

The rated speeds are taken from their ATTO Disk Benchmark testing, so I recommend using ATTO Disk Benchmark:

ATTO shows about 538mb read and 491mb write. So why does crystaldiskmark show such lower scores?

It just tests it differently. Using ATTO Disk Benchmark is the best way to find out if everything is working as it should, it so it sounds like everything is good because these 550/510 figures are all "up to" speeds.

The reason why your numbers are better with Atto is because it uses highly compressible data to test with. The drive has an easy time with data it can compress.

The other benchmark uses incompressible data which the Force 3 isn't good at.

Incompressible data is stuff like music, movies and most of games. All the data is already compressed as small as it can get so the drive can't compress it any further.

I find that As-ssd and CDM are the best test of a ssd's performance.
