I'm confused by this. Then why buy XFX??? They support overclocking, watercooling, etc.

Are you sure though? It doesn't look like it sports the usual AMD logo at the bottom.

Look at the back pic of the pcb. It's full length and the vrms are on the right side. The other card is cut down, shorter, iirc it loses vrm control aka no voltage control.

Psst, here's the back of a ref pcb. They're identical. Also, the lettering, AMD on the pcb isn't a rquirement to be a ref design. After a certain period of time, AMD will allow makers to fab the reference board's pcb and at which time they can color it whatever they want. Look at the 6970 revision 2 pcb, no AMD stamp but its reference.

XFX is the brand to get if you want to overclock and watercool your gpu. They're the first company to warranty flipping the gogo fast switch on the 6990. Everyone insta voids the warranty when that switch is flipped. It unlocks and allows voltage control on the 6990.

ok, ok, but I can still buy XFX and not over clock or make it liquid cooling... They have good prices and a good warranty program....

between the two cards "refrenced" and non. with out over clocking and with out liquid cooling, what is the difference? from what i'm reading the nonrefrence is supposed to be better/more efficient?

if you have plenty of air moving then id go with the single, but if you want to push extra air off the gpu/card, go with the dual. the few bucks shouldn't hurt the pocket, but everyone's right with Dirt3.... Def WIN there.
