So we'll take this as your admission that the x-fi doesn't have driver problems yes? Since the titanium HD uses the same drivers as the X-fi titanium, x-fi, x-fi fatality for sound, open al, eax, etc. The only difference again, is THS trustudio which has nothing to do with drivers.

Errr...no.
They may be the same drivers, but they function differently for different hardware.
Like how the newest Nvidia drivers don't do the same thing for different cards.
You do know how drivers work right?

Since the many months of owning my X-FI HD PCie, I havent ran into any driver issues at all. But different configs may have different results. Also just because the older cards has issues with drivers. Do not mean every one had them also. As well you cant say the X-Fi HD pcie will have driver issues because the older gen cards does.

I don't see any mention of DDL (Dolby Digital Live) so they won't see me upgrading anytime soon.

X-Fi Titanium Pro + DDL + Astro A40s w/ mixamp via TOSLINK = BOSS wink.gif
post #264 of 372
I think it does, but I not sure. I did see a config panel of the settings. But I don't remember if it was listed.

True... I have had just about every other "gaming" headset that they make in combination with just about every external mixer (Turtle Beach, Logitech, Creative)... while some of them are adequate it is quite obvious why the A40s are the sponsored MLG headsets. Of course they are ridiculously overpriced... but they are head and shoulders above the rest IMO; in both build quality and overall sound (mainly because DDL is much better than CMSS-3D for both clarity and positioning) . Sennheiser headsets coupled with a nice mixer and good sound card would be comparable, in both price and quality; but I find their gaming models lacking... often leaving you short in the MIC department. As a side note, the Logitech 5.1 speakers are real nice wink.gif

Then I will definitely consider an upgrade, as I have had this same sound card for quite a while. That being said, I have never had an issue with my card, or the drivers... so I fully endorse Creative sound cards.

You do know how drivers work right?

Its not different hardware. An X-fi based card is an X-fi based card, whether its the titanium hd or titanium x-fi fatality. With the other stuff you're basically paying for a front panel or better components that give better SNR and such. Its still the x-fi chip on all cards and thus use the same drivers.

Personally i've never had driver issues. (not directed at you smile.gif Not to say there are none, but IMO they are grossly overexaggerated by other brand loyalists. Don't get me wrong, the titanium HD is a fantastic sound card and is better than any current recon 3d card. Thus far CL has not released any plans for a Titanium HD style core3d card.

All of the THS trustudio controls are in the standard creative control panel for me with my Titanium hd. I don't remember installing any other software and it works fine for me.

I'm pretty sure he was distributing the drivers for free. And regardless of what he was trying to do it was wrong of Creative to continue to claim their hardware wouldn't work for Vista. Daniel K. pretty much exposed the fact that Creative lied about their drivers to get people to buy new hardware.

It's amazing how consumers will buy a product from a company that quite literally lied to them to get them to spend money on more of their products. It's even more amazing when people defend that company...
