I'm pretty sure he was distributing the drivers for free. And regardless of what he was trying to do it was wrong of Creative to continue to claim their hardware wouldn't work for Vista. Daniel K. pretty much exposed the fact that Creative lied about their drivers to get people to buy new hardware.

It's amazing how consumers will buy a product from a company that quite literally lied to them to get them to spend money on more of their products. It's even more amazing when people defend that company...

Windows vista sucks anyway and anyone using it should know that by now thumb.gif

This event occurred sometime within the first year after Vista was released. Slightly off-topic, but I've had Vista for 4 years on my laptop and it runs very well, apart from the indexing service randomly deciding to peg my HDD at 100% for about 5 minutes every few weeks.

What U Hear is there for you guys who use Windows 7 ;P and it isn't restricted to 2.1 Audio :O

Those voice options

I also think people are mistaking this

24-bit 102dB DACs, 4-channel 24-bit 101dB analog-to-digital (ADC) converters

^That is 24bit SNR...not 16bit SNR

16bit SNR is in 120-130 still
24bit has been improved from 80+ to 100+ now.....
Realtek 24bit SNR on their best iSPU is ~78dB

Yea, i guess most people don't realize that Win 7 is nothing more than tuned Vista and it works in the exactly same way for majority of stuff, while having small fices here and there.

Win 7 version number is 6.1, Vista - 6.0. Even MS doesn't treat it as major revision.

Also Vista works just fine. 99% of issues were related to buggy drivers, since Vista and 7 require differently structured drivers than XP and it took a while for some companies to release a stable drivers.

Yeah, true that. I don't get that so many people say that discrete cards don't sound any better than motherboard realtek audio, the sound difference is astronomical to my ears. Highs are brighter, bass punchier, less hissing, etc.

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/auzentech_x-fi_forte_review/ X-FI ADC WM8775
(102dB SNR, 24-bit/96kHz) you see it was 24 bit 102db at X-FI nothing new minus hardware accerelation

I donnt know if these pics from recon3d launcher or not but i have same options with x-fi titanum (not used what u hear until now ) ,but did you guys enable svm hear the noise .Creative audio cards had a lot of problem at past specially irq problems became nightmare for people famous cracking noise etc . Pci-e bus (seperate road for every card ,no irq sharing etc) gave another chance to creative are you guys realising this .

We need a review with real numbers for recon3d not opinions or wishes ,sorry guys.

I did not understand a freaking word you just typed. English please.

IRQ problems? Really? Crackles? (PRETTY SURE nobody gets that with x-fi) What is this 1994 with MS-DOS 6.22?

I guess you just really hate creative labs! thumb.gif (better grammar next time though)

I disabled Realtek onboard in BIOS, Put in Soundcard. Install the Creative Driver suite and Control Panel with the ones I thought unnecessary left out. Restart and all is good.
Nothing wrong with them at all. PEBKAC at its finest.

Thanks, guys, for making me feel ancient...

Once upon a time there was a company called CREATIVE.

They made Audigy sound cards.

They intentionally disabled a bunch of features that used to be available on their sound cards in order to force users into 'upgrading' to new cards when the user moved from XP to Vista. When a guy named Daniel wrote a driver that re-enabled those features, allowing people who were stuck with lobotomized cards to use them again, CREATIVE went after him.

After this kind of egregious behavior, I no longer purchase Creative products.

The End.

I got it with my full height X-Fi XtremeMusic. Usually just after I'd finished playing music/put it on pause.

I'm not alone, either.
