Will 2 GTX 570's run off 750W PSU? - Page 8

Alright well. I guess I'll be going with the Corsair AX 850.

I'm really tempted to get the 1000W CM silent pro gold, but I feel if I'm going to get 1000W might aswell get 1200W? Does that sound safe to say?

I just feel like the 570 Tri Sli may be a realistic thing and on the wattage calculator it said 880W for 3 x 570's so I'm not sure if the 850W can handle it overclocked and such.

Your heart seems to be set on the 1200. If you want it that bad, go for it, don't ask other people to rationalize the decision you have subconsciously already made

Which calculator was this? They're mostly inaccurate.

Generally (with the exception of cards like the 480/580/590), a quality 850W is perfect for three respectable cards like the 570.

I can't find a good GTX 570 Tri-SLI review to use, but Guru3D.com got their test system to pull 578W from the wall outlet when it had two GTX 570s in SLI under full load (source). If we assume that their PSU was 85% efficient, then that means the system pulled about 490W from the PSU. Guru3D.com also recommends adding about 100-150W to account for the rest of the system, so that brings us to about 590W to 640W.

This means even a quality 650W power supply could be enough for it.

So a quality 850W unit should be more than enough when adding a third 570.

I agree with Cables! But one thing to keep in mind, the AX850 only comes with FOUR 6+2 Pins... So therefore you could only SLI 2 cards at once. So he'll need to look for a PSU that has 6 unless he wants to use ugly Molex to PCI xD

(For tri sli) That 880w you mentioned could be from the wall, therefore take into account 85% efficiency as twocables said and that would be 748w, so a quality 850 should handle it fine.
