Trying to underclock

Hi, recently i have lost interest in playing games. Because of this, i have found that it is uneccessary to keep my processor and gpus and ram overclocked. Why waste power and add heat? I am trying to underclock my processor as much as i can but for some reason the computer will not post with anything below 1.91ghz. I have set the cpu multiplier to 6x (lowest possible setting) and works great, but once i try to lower the fsb below 1275mhz, thats when the computer does not post.

Why would a computer not post with any speed below 1.91ghz? I would think that the more you lower the processor speed, the more stable it would run. I have tried different voltages including the stock voltage but with no success.

No, see just because a processor is rated to run at 3ghz doesnt mean it will run any speed up to 3ghz. so you could find that a processor might run 3ghz but wont POST below 2.9ghz. being able to drop your processor speed by a bit over 1ghz is pretty good.

think of it as overclocking, but backwards. your aim is to instead of find the highest speed it can run stable your looking for the lowest speed it can run stable. just like your E8400 wouldnt run 6ghz on air no matter what voltage you give it, it wont run below a point as well.

underclocking also means taking the stock Vcore below default. so i would stick to your 1.9ghz underclock and find the lowest voltage it will run it stable.
