You will see a great improvement using SATA 3, and TRIM works fine with that too. No need to use SATA 2 if you dont have to. TRIM is only disabled when you RAID an SSD.

Here is my most recent bench to compare to.

This thread makes me wish I'd bought an M4 too.. oh well

Any chance you guys could post ATTO benches?

By any chance do you know if my mobo sata3 supports TRIM, or do you know how I can check? In my other thread I was told my mobo's sata3 doesn't support TRIM

EDIT - wow truong NICE!!

afaik, the Marvell 9128 controller supports TRIM just fine when using the microsoft ahci driver (MSAHCI).. however, it is reported that the Marvell driver does not yet support TRIM.

Edit: Hmm, maybe Marvell updated the driver since those reports; http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-St...RIM/td-p/44440

I just flipped through my manual and apparently the only SATA3 controller I have on this mobo is the Marvell 9128 (like you said). From what I gather on these forums I should stay away from these controllers so I guess I'll just stick to the SATA2 with ICH10R...

... but if I get really curious maybe I'll just try sata3 for a day, want to see the speed gains for myself Thanks for the help, and thanks for taking the time to look up that link.

I have no reps, but will +rep to everyone who answered!!

Marvell controllers don't support TRIM, neither with msahci driver, nor with marvell driver.
