Sata Power:

Sata cable:

Sata plug on a mobo:

Plug the power and sata cable into the hdd. mount the hdd. (reversible). Plug the sata cable into the mobo.

Boot, get to bios, go to boot options and set the new wd 1tb drive to primary/#1/boot

EDIT: I misread your Q i think. It doesn't really matter where you plug it into. I'd recommend finding out what order they're in (usually in pairs like 0,1 & 2,3 etc) and plug it into the next one. I usually put my boot drive in slot 0 (or the first)

If you set your optical to primary... just go set it back to the hdd the same way you set the optical. Unplug all other unused sata devices to make it easier to find. For a windows install all you need to do is have the hdd set to primary and on boot key in to boot menu and choose to boot to the cd.

i did that. I plug my HDD to SATA_2 and my CD drive to SATA2_3 i got like 3 different kind of SATA ports and they are all different colors to.

It's still saying loading operating system and Boot to CD/DVD and thats all it does nothing happens after that
