New xfx 6950 - Page 2

Open that card up and you will void the warranty. Xfx is strict on this policy.
Send it back if you feel temps are too high.

It idles at 50-59. Quite high but not ridiculous.

You are running 2 monitors, try with one monitor only and check the idle temperature.

OP is only using one display.

Just to let you know, I am not using a standard computer monitor, I am using a 25 inch hdtv.

Do you really think using a 25" HDTV should create such a huge disparity in idle/load temperature?

Honestly I don't know, I just assumed using an hdtv could raise temps versus a normal monitor.

No, it won't. Unless you are using more than 1 monitor

Both monitors are plugged into the other card. Don't know if that matters. Other monitor is only at 1360x768 but my main is running at 120Hz so that might be why the temps are a little higher. I will see

video cards will run much warmer while running 2 or more monitors, they are required to put out more information which in turn causes more heat. Unplug one of the monitors and your temps will fall 10+ degrees probably.

My top card idles at 40C and the bottom at 37C. Top fan at 35% and bottom at 23%. Browsing with chrome does not affect my temps either.
